Your Opinion: What's become of decency?

Dear Editor:

What has become of the high morals and decency that had existed in in this once great country where we were once held in high esteem by other nations?

It seems that mankind's carelessness is not only polluting the oceans, lakes and streams and rivers but is filtrating from mouths of we Americans. Removing trash from our homes to get rid of unwanted items does not appear to be enough as it is pouring out from the television shows and from politicians as well as being spoken in every language. I am not a prude by any sense of the word but there are principles to be observed and it seems too many Americans appear to be taking the low road.

Just when did boundaries cease to exist here in the states with regard to the spoken word? Young kids are bad enough when it comes to bad language when used in stores, in other public places and on the streets but then what can a person expect when their parents, the shows and television personalities use the same language.

Unfortunately the parents do not filter what children see or read. And grandparents believe their grandchildren can do no wrong so they get to watch any show that appears the big screen.

Our American language is being assaulted from every source and it's especially unnerving when it comes from entertainment people appearing as guests on talk shows.

Personally I don't like the slaughter of the good old American language that I was taught in the classroom that I was fortunate enough to attend. The teachers taught perfect American language and the teachers were strict.

On another subject matter appearing in the paper it really does not nor should it deserve a response but I am expressing my opinion on the mater of strip joints and nudity

These two dominate the scene that engulfs the citizens in the stores and on the streets of this not-too-large community but they are making a statement. At one time a few years ago I did write an article about another matter that included this little tidbit of information but it was excluded from the material. It is noted that the stores hire males, all ages, who dress more appropriately than young females. who do get attention but but not the right kind.
