Your Opinion: Response on flying the flag

Dear Editor:

In response to Rebecca DeLong about lowering the flag of the United States, I feel that we need to make it mandatory to take and pass a test about our government before you run for any office.

I, Leonard Steinman, served in two branches of our United States military and if you do not know about distress you should keep your opinion about the flag to yourself.

If the president or governor states the flag should be lowered at all government offices these are the rules of the flag. No commissioners or city official can make any rules regulating the flag of the United States.

I went through training in the Navy about the flags and our government. I don't only do this at courthouse , I also do it in our state capital.

So just ask your congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer if I'm right, and also for eight months our courthouse flew the flags wrong in front of the courthouse. It is American flag first, POW/MIA flag second, state flag third, county flag fourth, city flag fifth, corporation flag sixth.

So everyone has an opinion, but I feel you need to go back to school.

I am a lifetime member of our Disabled American Veterans and the support of the national DAV president and the Seabees Museum and national magazine.
