Your Opinion: Respect handicapped parking spots

Dear Editor:

At Capital Region Healthplex I observe on a daily basis individuals who can easily walk unassisted and with no devices to and from the entrance taking up handicapped parking spots.

Then I also observe the elderly, young adults, young children and toddlers who require wheel chairs, walkers, canes, braces, oxygen machines and other devices to get to the entrance.

One young women has a disabled child whom she has to lift from the vehicle into a wheelchair and also manage a 2- to 3-year-old toddler with her. These individuals need the handicapped spots.

Think also about these individuals handling this predicament in the rain and snow. One day we may be walking in their shoes and unable to acquire a much-needed handicapped spot.

Let us all try and give them one less stressful moment in their day and have it replaced with a smile.
