As part of the demolition work taking place at the old St. Mary's Hospital property, Capital Paving and Construction LLC announced their workers will be removing the pedestrian bridge near the 600 block of Missouri Boulevard.

Company officials said work will impact all traffic in the area. The work will mean closing Missouri Boulevard from the intersection of West Dunklin Street to the U.S. 54 East on/off ramps starting next week at 8 p.m. Monday until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternate route during the time of the closure.

Farmer Holding Company plans to redevelop the site into a complex with retail, restaurant and office space. FHC plans to rebuild the historic portions of the hospital by cleaning and reusing the existing stone portion of the hospital.

In August 2017, the Jefferson City Council approved FHC's plans to redevelop the site with the help of tax increment financing. The company will build either a $44.6 million project involving Lincoln University or a $30.9 million project with only commercial space.
