Jefferson City man faces DWI charge in accident

A Jefferson City man has been charged in connection with a weekend injury accident in the city.

Brennan Nichols, 22, is charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated involving physical injury.

Police reports show the crash occurred at 12:22 a.m. in the 2100 block of Missouri Boulevard.

The investigation revealed a vehicle driven by Nichols was going eastbound on Missouri, traveling at a high rate of speed, struck a curb, crossed over into the westbound lanes and collided with a vehicle driven by Julie Brown, 18, of Fulton, and a vehicle driven by Ashley Herndon, 32, of Jefferson City.

Nichols and Brown were taken to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, while Nichols' passenger, David Williams, 24, of Holts Summit, was flown to a Columbia hospital for serious injuries.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement said Nichols had slurred speech when officers questioned him after the crash, and he admitted to drinking alcohol just prior to the crash.
