Area wrecks cause injuries

A Tuscumbia man was hurt in a one-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Callaway County.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show the crash occurred on westbound U. S. 54, just east of the Summit Drive overpass, around 4:05 p.m.

Robert Wyrick, 87, went off the right side of the road, went down a steep embankment and struck several trees before coming to a stop.

He was wearing a seat belt and was treated for serious injuries.

A Belle man was hurt in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Gasconade County.

Patrol reports show the crash occurred on Missouri 28, just west of Route B, around 8:50 a.m.

Samuel Jett, 20, went over the center line and struck a semi-truck, head-on, which was driven by Dennis Stewart, 46, of Salem.

Jett was not wearing a seat belt and was treated for serious injuries. Stewart was wearing a seat belt and had no reported injuries.
