Russellville festival in its 179th year

The 179th Russellville Engine Show and Festival weekend begins at 7 p.m. Friday with an MMTTPA Truck and Tractor Pull presented by the Eugene FFA Chapter at the Lions Club Field.

It will conclude with a street dance uptown and an 8 p.m. concert Saturday by Dirt Road Addiction, a Sedalia-based southern-rock/country band.

Activities Saturday begin early with the second annual Engine Show 5K Run/Walk, which benefits the Russellville cross country team, at 6:30 a.m., rain or shine. Check-in is at 6 a.m. at the Russellville Lions Club Course.

A pork steak and pork ribs barbecue contest begins at 7 a.m. Saturday with judging at 1:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 3:30 p.m. For more information, call 660-221-3946.

Check-in for all Russellville Engine Show and Festival pageants is at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Russellville City Park gazebo. Participants should be in western wear.

The baby show for ages 0-2 will be at 9 a.m. The Little Mister and Miss Russellville pageant for ages 3-6 will follow the baby show, and the Miss Teen Russellville pageant for ages 10-14 will conclude the contests.

Transportation will be provided for all participants in the 10:30 a.m. parade. For more information, call 573-832-1086.

The Osage Drifters will perform at 11 a.m., followed by Helen Russell at 1 p.m.

Food will be served, with vendors setting up noon-4 p.m. at the park.

A live auction will take place at 12:30 p.m., and the cross-cut competition and kiddie-tractor pull will both proceed at 2 p.m.

The weekend also includes a car show, interactive inflatables, softball and T-ball games, and archery events.
