Callaway County hears numerous court cases

The following cases were heard on Jan. 23 in the Callaway County Circuit Court:

Sharley Baker, 22, of Higbee, failed to appear for court. A warrant remains outstanding for her arrest.

Jacob Burke, 36, of Vienna, pleaded guilty to committing violence against an offender in the Department of Corrections and was sentenced to five years in prison. Burke admitted he struck another inmate in the face while the two were incarcerated at the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center in February 2015. Burke was incarcerated on a drug charge from Camden County at that time and has since been released. The victim suffered minor injuries. The judge suspended execution of the prison sentence and placed Burke on five years of supervised probation. The case was investigated by the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Dion Butler, 27, of Fulton, failed to appear for court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Cody Evans, 26, of Auxvasse, failed to appear for court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Michael Glenn Hook Jr., 23, of Fulton, failed to appear for court. A warrant remains outstanding for his arrest.

Koert Minish, 44, of Holts Summit, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and was sentenced to four years in prison. Minish admitted he possessed the drug when officers executed a search warrant at his residence in February 2016. Minish also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and was sentenced to four years in prison on that charge. Minish admitted he fled from officers when they attempted to arrest him in June 2016 on an outstanding arrest warrant. In both cases, the judge recommended that Minish complete a substance abuse treatment program within the Department of Corrections before being considered for release. The cases were investigated by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.

Timothy Morris, 32, of Kansas City, pleaded guilty to burglary in the second degree, receiving stolen property and arson in the second degree. Morris admitted he burglarized a business on Old Highway 40 in August 2016, and he took ATV ramps from the business and set fires in the building in an attempt to burn the business. The business suffered minor damage from the fires, which did not spread throughout the business. The judge sentenced Morris to five years in prison on the burglary and arson charges and 120 days in jail on the stolen property charge. The case was investigated by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.

Jennifer Ann Ritter, 26, of Fulton, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property. Ritter admitted she retained possession of an air-conditioning unit in May 2016 knowing it had been stolen. The judge placed Ritter on five years of supervised probation under several conditions, including that Ritter pay restitution for the stolen property. The case was investigated by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.
