JC man charged

A Jefferson City man faces charges following a traffic stop this week.

Rodney Thompson, 64, was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of operating a vehicle without a valid license.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement states an officer stopped an unlicensed Mercury on the 1100 block of Jefferson Street on Thursday morning. The driver, Thompson, allegedly admitted to not having a valid license, and a check with the state revealed it had expired in 2013.

A search of his vehicle revealed a small bag containing a rock-like white substance, which field tested positive for meth.
