On March 24, the board elected a new chairwoman - Virginia Fry, a partner in the Husch Blackwell law firm. Tergin was elected vice chairwoman.

Tergin said of her election to the leadership post, "It's an honor to serve my alma mater. My experience at Missouri State University was top notch and has shaped the leader I am today. My goal serving on the board is for other students to have an amazing college experience, and I am proud to serve as vice chair."

Fry is a member of the firm's healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceuticals industry team. She has a bachelor's degree and master of business administration from MSU. She has a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law.

Tergin, who is owner of Carrie's Hallmark Shop in Jefferson City, is also an artist and a photographer. She is a graduate of Missouri State University with a degree in business management. She has served on the City Council and boards of numerous civic and charitable organizations.

Steve Foucart, chief financial officer; and Kristan Gochenauer, secretary to the Board of Governors, were elected board treasurer and secretary, respectively, in October.

The mid-year change in board leadership was necessitated by the confirmation of Craig Frazier, who will assume the seat of Joe Carmichael, whose term on the board expired in January. Carmichael had also served as chairman of the board.
