Route A bridges in Camden County to get new decks

MoDOT holds online public meeting to share information about upcoming project

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is holding an online public meeting to share information about an upcoming project that will replace the decks on two bridges located on Route A in Camden County.

Information about the project, which will replace the decks on the Dry Auglaize Creek and Conns Creek bridges, is available for comment at http://www.modot.org/central/CamdenRouteABridges.htm.

The Dry Auglaize Creek bridge is located nine miles east of Linn Creek, and the Conns Creek Bridge is located two miles north of Richland. Both bridges were built in 1967.

"The existing bridge decks have reached a point where they need to be replaced," said MoDOT Project Manager Bruce Green in a MoDOT news release about the project. "Although the bridges' widths will remain the same, the driving surface will be improved and guardrail will be added to the approaches of both bridges to increase safety."

The project will bid in December 2016. The work, which is scheduled to take place during summer 2017, will require full closures of Route A sometime between late May and mid-August. Detours on state routes will be used during construction, and those detour routes can be found on the project page, according to the news release.

The bridges will not be closed at the same time. The Dry Auglaize bridge will be closed for approximately 50 calendar days, and the Conns Creek bridge will be closed for about 30 days. It's possible the bridges could be closed at the same time.

An online comment form is available on the project website for anyone who would like to provide feedback. Comments can also be taken over the telephone at 573-751-3322 or toll-free at 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (1-888-275-6636). The public comment period runs from today through Oct. 14.
