The Museum of Missouri Military History will host its second annual Military History Weekend at the Missouri National Guard's Ike Skelton Training Site from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The history appreciation events will take place at the museum's new facility, which opened December 2014, featuring more than 6,500-square-feet of space and newly added exhibits and static displays.
Guests will have an opportunity to interact with living historians displaying military uniforms and equipment from the Revolutionary War to World War II. The museum will also have exhibits featuring historic and modern military vehicles.
Permanent static displays include the F-15 Eagle fighter jet, an F-4 Phantom 2 fighter jet, an M4E8 Sherman tank, a M551 Sheridan Tank, a Huey Cobra attack helicopter, C-130 Hercules and a M901 TOW vehicle.
Inside the museum, exhibits and artifacts include cannons, uniforms, weapons and equipment. The centerpiece is a UH-1 "Huey" helicopter that was fully restored by the Missouri Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group.
