Security employee gets probation for stealing

A Jefferson City man has been placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to two counts of stealing while working at Scholastic.

Court records show Anthony Brandon Jr., 21, is believed to have done this from November 2015 through the start of January this year.

A Jefferson City police said a credit card terminal in Scholastic was found to have been used to conduct six fraudulent transactions totalling nearly $2,700 on separate dates. The transactions were applied to three different credit/debit cards, all in the name of Brandon.

Brandon had been employed by a security company contracted to provide security at Scholastic, and one of his duties was to conduct period checks of the area where the credit card terminal is located.

Video surveillance showed Brandon in the area during the time the last two fraudulent transactions occurred.

When questioned, Brandon admitted to using the terminal and applying refunds to his debit card on four occasions for a total of $982.

Brandon had an active arrest warrant due to not appearing in court on an unrelated offense.
