Open house planned for Healing House

Heather Gieck got a second chance and now wants to offer the same opportunity through the Healing House and New Beginnings. The not-for-profit is still establishing logistics, but hopes to open the one-year, 12-step recovery home and program in the spring of 2015 to women who are returning from prison or a recovery program.

Lives are being changed in positive ways at the Healing House and New Beginnings.

The public is invited to an open house 1-3 p.m. Oct. 15 in Jefferson City at 1418 W. Main St.

The faith-based, residential facility has served 21 women since opening in May 2015.

Statistics say one in 10 will make it. Five are working on their recovery, and three will commence this year.

At the event, the seven women currently at the home will share their testimonies, comparing how their life was and how the Healing House is impacting them now.
