As of Wednesday afternoon, authorities were looking for a Jefferson City man who was scheduled to start his prison sentence after pleading guilty to a charge of first-degree child molestation.
Javaughn Hodges, 34, has now been charged with felony failure to appear.
Last month, Hodges had been sentenced to 10 years in prison by Judge Pat Joyce.
Hodges was not in custody at the time of his sentencing and was instructed by Joyce to turn himself in on Sept. 29 to the Cole County Sheriff's Office to begin his sentence, but he failed to show up. Attempts to locate him have failed.
The only address court records show for Hodges is the America's Best Value Inn on Jefferson Street.
The original charge in this case was first-degree rape. The victim was a child under the age of 12 at the time.
The child said the rape occurred between August 2013 and May 2014 at a residence in Jefferson City.
The mother of the victim said the child had to be treated for a sexually transmitted disease.
