Russellville school board weighs bond issue

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - Preparation continues for a likely bond issue in the spring for the Cole County R-1 School District.

At its October meeting, the board decided to hire a construction management firm, which will help determine and define what projects would benefit the school in the future, said Superintendent Perry Gorrell.

The board will decide on the matter and announce whether it will propose a bond issue at a later date.

Because the firm will be a professional in the construction world, they should help the district save significant money during the course of the project, he said.

The construction manager will help the district determine its needs, help write request for proposals, and track bids, as well as oversee the overall project.

In other business, the Russellville school board changed its bullying and hazing policy.
