Zombies invading downtown next week

Thousands of zombies are expected to converge on Downtown Jefferson City next week for the last Thursday Night Live of 2016.

Live musical entertainment from 6-9 p.m. will include performances by The Many Colored Death and '80s tribute band Members Only.

At about 6:40 p.m., there may be an additional influx of zombies who spontaneously begin making jerky movements that resemble a choreographed routine conducted by Larinda McRaven.

Guests of all ages are encouraged to dress as zombies for the event and be a part of a massive photo opportunity at 6:50 p.m. Photographers and videographers are invited to be on the main stage to capture the moment. Jefferson City police request costumes contain no weaponized accessories. Makeup stations provided by Walmart will be located in the festival district for those wanting to add to their look.

Organizers are reminding those planning to attend Thursday's event to be aware of the rules of the Temporary Open Consumption permit in the downtown area. Individuals must show ID, purchase an over-21 wrist band and acquire an event cup at participating outdoor bars. Guests may use that plastic cup only to purchase an adult beverage outside. Guests may not buy beverages inside and bring them outside, per Missouri regulations. No alcohol of any kind may be carried into the district.

Other rules for the safety of guests include: no pets, no soliciting, no coolers, and no skateboards, bicycles or scooters. Children under 16 must be accompanied by parents or guardians at all times.
