JC man gets probation in Dillard's theft

A Jefferson City man was placed on five years supervised probation after pleading guilty to charges in connection with the theft of items from Dillard's in October 2015 then fleeing on foot from the store, running across U.S. 50 and causing several accidents.

Terry Odom, 22, of 808 Chestnut St., pleaded guilty to an amended charge of receiving stolen property. He had been charged with stealing. He also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest.

As part of his probation, he must complete 80 hours of community service and pay $525 in fees.

Jefferson City Police Department reports show Odom and another man concealed merchandise in their pants and in a backpack while in Dillard's.

A store loss prevention officer attempted to stop the two in the parking lot, but they fled to a vehicle.

As a police officer approached the vehicle, both men ran south across U.S. 50 and continued running until Odom was taken into custody in the 3600 block of Darice Lane.
