A Jefferson City woman is charged with child abuse in connection with an incident that occurred earlier this week.
Cherrian Jones, 25, was taken into custody after authorities investigated a call to the Child Abuse Hotline.
Jones admitted to inflicting cruel punishment upon a female child under the age of 17 by spanking her and using a belt that left welts on her lower torso. The child also said Jones had hit her twice in the eye, leaving a red and purple coloring under her right eye and swelling.
