The Cole County Sheriff's Department is searching for a Holts Summit man accused of shooting a woman Monday afternoon at County Park.

The department has issued a warrant for Jerry Dean Gill, 29.

Charging documents filed in Cole County Circuit Court show he is charged with two counts of second-degree domestic assault and one count each of armed criminal action and false imprisonment.

Gill was last seen driving a white, 2006 Chrysler 300, with the license plate of WK2H8A. The victim told authorities the vehicle was missing a side mirror and had a spare tire on one of its front wheels.

Authorities said Gill shot the victim in the park around 3:45 p.m. Monday.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement, filed with the courts, shows Gill and the woman got out of the car, then Gill started yelling at the woman, then shot her.

Two bystanders saw the injured woman and took her to Thomas Jefferson Middle School on Fairgrounds Road, near the park, where authorities were notified. She then was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.

Authorities were able to talk to the woman, who said Gill was her ex-boyfriend. She said Gill had held her captive in his car since Saturday afternoon. She said Gill took her phone, forced her to urinate in her pants and physically assaulted her with his fist and a police baton.

She said Gill drove her to the park and was going to let her get out to use the restroom. She refused to get back in the car and that's when Gill shot her once in the right forearm.

The victim also said Gill yelled out, "I'm going to kill you," and fired a second shot which did not hit the victim.

Jefferson City Area CrimeStoppers has issued a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of Gill. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous.
