Jefferson City man faces new charges after drug raid

A Jefferson City man already facing a charge after a Mustang Drug Task Force operation last month in the Capital City has been charged in connection with a bust made by the task force in January.

Johnnie Sims, 40, is now charged with one count of selling heroin.

He was charged earlier with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

This latest charge stems from an undercover operation where a narcotics officer used a confidential informant to buy heroin from Sims in January. The sale was captured on audio and video recordings.

In November, authorities went to Sims' home in the 300 block of West Ashley Street and served a narcotics search warrant.

Authorities found a loaded pistol and a box of ammunition. Sims is a convicted felon and as such is not allowed to be in possession of a firearm.

A large number of baggies consistent with narcotics distribution and a working digital scale were also found in the home.

Sims told officers his wife purchased the firearm, but he knew it was there and had handled it. He also admitted to selling marijuana.
