State employees donate more than $1 million to charities

The 2014 Missouri State Employee Charitable Campaign (MSECC) raised more than $1 million for more than 900 Missouri charities, the Office of Administration (OA) announced Thursday.

The campaign - in its 29th year - has raised more than $1 million for 10 consecutive years.

"Year after year, Missouri state employees offer an outpouring of support, compassion and giving to those in need through the annual charitable campaign," said Doug Nelson, commissioner of OA. "The success is a testament to their generosity, and I am so proud that over the last decade our employees have pledged more than $10 million to organizations across the state of Missouri."

The MSECC is an annual fundraising effort organized by OA that provides state employees with the opportunity to make donations to their favorite charitable organizations through the convenience of payroll deduction or one-time gifts. The state has a history of philanthropy and a spirit of service, and since the inception of the annual campaign, state employees have donated more than $26 million to charities statewide. Donations have exceeded $1 million in 13 of the 29 years.
