Tigers fall to Gamecocks

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Missouri Tigers couldn't capitalize on Keaton Steele's solid outing.

Steele allowed two runs on seven hits in eight innings, but South Carolina went on to claim a 2-1 win against Missouri in the Southeastern Conference series finale on Sunday at Carolina Stadium.

Max Schrock connected with a double and reached third on an error to lead off the bottom of the ninth for South Carolina. Missouri intentionally loaded the bases and brought in five infielders, but Joey Pankake singled to clinch the win for the Gamecocks.

Dylan Kelly hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to give Missouri its only run.

The Tigers had five hits in the contest, while falling to 20-30 overall and 6-21 in the SEC.

South Carolina improved to 39-13 overall and 16-11 in conference play.

Missouri will host Arkansas in a three-game SEC series starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.
