Helias rolls past Hannibal

HANNIBAL - The Helias Crusaders scored six runs in the first inning Friday on their way to a 12-2 victory in five innings against the Hannibal Pirates.

Helias had 18 hits in the game, led by Alex Barton's 4-for-4 performance. Brock Gerstner and Hayden Lee had three hits each. Austin Sachse, Alex Faddoul and John Rhea all had two hits for the Crusaders.

Faddoul, who hit a two-run home run, finished with three RBI and two runs scored. Also scoring twice were Gerstner, Lee and Chase Bexten.

Clayton Winter went the distance to get the victory for the Crusaders. He allowed no earned runs on three hits and three walks while recording five strikeouts.

Helias (14-6) will host Nixa at 11:30 a.m. today at the American Legion Post 5 Sports Complex before taking on Owensville at 4:30 p.m.

Helias won the JV game 10-0.
