Missouri women to play at Creighton

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri women's basketball team is in the postseason.

Missouri will open play in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) on Thursday night when the Tigers take on the Creighton Blue Jays (19-13) in Omaha, Neb. Game time is 7 p.m. (KTGR 100.5-FM and www.ktgr.com).

Creighton, a member of the Big East Conference, is 12-2 at home this season. The Blue Jays are led by Marissa Janning, the Big East player of the year, who averaged 17.8 points and 5.1 rebounds as well as leading the team with a total of 124 assists.

Missouri is 7-7 all-time against Creighton, with the last meeting coming when the Tigers posted a 70-66 victory in the 2006-07 season in Columbia.

It's the second straight trip to the WNIT for Missouri, which lost 60-58 to Eastern Illinois last season at Mizzou Arena.
