Lincoln men tied for 10th at golf tournament

The Lincoln men's golf team finished the first day of the Washburn Capitol Plaza Invitational tied for 10th.

The Blue Tigers, who are tied with Washburn, have a team score of 615 following the Monday's two rounds of the two-day, three-round tournament.

Brian Lillevold led Lincoln, shooting a 73 in the first round and a 72 in the second for a score of 145. Lillevold is tied for eighth in the field at 3-over par and is five strokes back of the tournament leader.

Kenny Conrad shot an 80 in the opening round, but came back with a 74 in the second. Conrad's two-round sum of 154 is 12-over par and ties him for 33rd on the individual leaderboard.

Conrad, playing for the first time this year, is one stroke ahead of teammate Nick Goeke, who fired a 79 in the first round and a 76 in the second for a first-day score of 155. Goeke is tied for 40th overall.

Blake Lammers had the next-best finish for Lincoln, shooting a 161 after carding a 79 in the opening round and an 82 in the afternoon session. Steve Mallow rounded out Lincoln's performance with a 168.

Central Oklahoma leads the field with a team score of 582, while Henderson State (587), Lindenwood (592), Southwest Oklahoma State (598), and Iowa Western Community College (600) round out the top five team.

Lincoln will conclude play with the third and final round today.
