BizBeat: Farmer Holding Company purchases downtown building

A longtime vacant building on Jefferson City's High Street has a new owner. The 118 E. High Street building, previously owned by Central Bank, is now the property of Farmer Holding Company.

Jamie Farmer of Farmer Holding Company said Friday that hopefully the whole building will be renovated in the future.

"We are looking for commercial or office users for the first floor," Farmer said. The second floor will also be rented as apartments or office space. "Any interested renters can contact us."

The Farmers purchased the downtown building because they are interested in economic growth across the whole city, Farmer said. "It's a great building downtown."

The Downtown Association stirred conversation about this particular building last year. Post-it notes were placed on the window, with suggestions as to what type of businesses people would like to see come to downtown. The Farmers did not purchase the building with a set retailer in mind, and hope to find a tenant to fill the space.
