BizBeat: Yen Ching closing after nearly four decades

Chinese restaurant Yen Ching in Jefferson City closed its doors today after serving up crab rangoons, cashew chicken and the like for nearly four decades.

After 38 years in business, the Chen family announced the difficult decision on its Facebook page on Friday.

"We want to thank our loyal customers for making us "A Jefferson City Tradition' since 1976!" the post read. "It's been an honor to serve you."

Owners Lucas and Mary Chen closed the dining room to the restaurant in September, citing redevelopment of its property, and has since been offering its services for carry-out and catering only.

The restaurant's Facebook page also said the restaurant closing would allow for "the next phase of our property redevelopment" to begin. "The future looks bright, but the memories of the special people who passed through the doors of Yen Ching over the years will warm our hearts forever."
