Jazz festival fundraiser set for this week

Capital Jazzfest is holding a fundraiser to benefit the jazz festival at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at The Mission, 915 E. High St. in Jefferson City.

Jazz musicians will create America's original musical art form. Musicians, jazz enthusiasts and music lovers of all kinds are welcome to play and enjoy the evening.

Proceeds go to Capital Jazzfest held Sept. 6 in the downtown area.

There is no cover charge, but donations are encouraged. All donations are tax deductible.

The Mission is donating the venue for the evening, Madison's Cafe is providing complimentary cuisine and Will West Music and Sound is providing backline instrumentation.

All musicians are donating their time and talent to raise funds.

Capital Jazzfest is a free music festival created by Jazz Forward Initiative, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization collaborating with several other non-profit entities.

The festival takes place each September to provide the residents of mid-Missouri the opportunity to see and hear live performances of this uniquely American art form in a safe, comfortable setting.

If unable to attend the event, donations can be sent to Jazz Forward Initiative, PO Box 104994, Jefferson City, MO 65110.
