Johnson named Preseason All-American

USA College Football has named Lincoln senior lineman J.J. Johnson to its Preseason All-America second team.

Johnson was an All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Conference third-team selection in 2013 after leading one of the most successful offensive lines in Lincoln history.

At center, Johnson helped pave the way for 4,917 yards of total offense, crushing the old single-season record of 3,734. The Jefferson City High School graduate was also a major reason why Lincoln fielded a rushing attack that finished third in the MIAA and 24th in NCAA Division II with 229.9 yards per game.

The Blue Tigers finished the 2013 campaign with 2,529 total rushing yards, 2,388 passing and 42 offensive touchdowns.

USA College Football chose its Division II Preseason All-American list based on input from various college football writers associations and division head coaches. Players that have been selected to the list are eligible to play in the USA College Football Bowl, an all-star game that will be take place in Jackson, Miss. on Jan. 16, 2015.
