3 area residents hurt in two accidents

Two Camdenton men were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday on Missouri 5, north of Missouri 7, in Camden County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, a 2010 Subaru Outback, driven southbound by James E. Nichols, 41, slowed to allow another vehicle to pass and started to make a left turn. The Nichols vehicle then struck nearly head on a 2001 Volkswagen, driven northbound by Alan J. Craig, 23. The Nichols vehicle stopped in the road, and the Craig vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a road sign.

Nichols refused treatment at the scene. Craig was taken to Lake Regional Hospital.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

A Camdenton man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday on Ball Park Road, one mile from Hyd-A-Way Road in Camden County.

The patrol reported a 1996 Toyota T100, driven northbound by Kevin W. Scheiter, 25, ran off the right side of the road, returned to the road and crossed the center line, went off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Scheiter was taken to Lake Regional Hospital.

He was not wearing a seat belt.
