Several candidates vying for Russellville city, school seats

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - Several candidates filed for municipal and school board positions on the April 8 ballot.

Filing for the positions closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

In the municipal races, two candidates filed for mayor. Larry Crocker and Ronnie Moore will vie for the seat being vacated by Ritchie Jenkins, who has served two terms as mayor.

Rodney Edwards has filed for East Ward councilman, a position that Crocker held.

No qualified candidate filed for the West Ward councilman seat. If no write-in candidate emerges from the April 8 election, the council will fill the seat by appointment.

In Cole County R-1 school board races, six residents filed for three open seats.

Mark Thompson is running as an incumbent. Others on the ballot are: Rodney Edwards, Jamie Sullivan, Steve Stanley, Mark Schroeder and Deanna Kenney.
