Your Opinion: Media hype and hoax

I have observed for several years that when the mainstream news media thinks we need to know everything there is to know about something, they are never ending in their pursuit of the story or non-story.

For instance; Bridge-gate associated with Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey. Contrast the media's obsession with this story and their lack of interest in the scandal with the IRS, the NSA, the intimidation of reporters like James Rosen, and the killing of the four Americans at Benghazi. I am reminded of that famous line in the Judy Garland movie, "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."

Consider for a moment the man-made global warming hoax, and how the mainstream media gives great deference to those that support this hoax and treats those that disagree, as hayseeds or just a bunch of rubes.

At least our local paper publishes both sides and Jim Dyke's cartoons are hilarious. Some of those on Al Gore's side need to lighten up a bit. It's a joke people! Dyke pokes fun at almost everything and I find that the vast majority of his cartoons try to make the point in a funny sort of way. Don't let it go to your head, Jim.

I remember that back in the '70s Time, Newsweek, and US News and World Report all had articles about the coming ice age. There are even now those individuals that are denying that these publications printed these articles. I know they did because I read them. Just because you weren't alive during the Vietnam war, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

But you say, there wasn't much scientific data that was predicting global cooling, dah! Where is the scientific data supporting global warming? I know there are those that hypothesize that there is man-made global warming, but where is the scientific data? By the way, where did all that ice go from the last ice age? We must have had some global warming sometime in the last million years or so and man was nowhere to be found.
