A man who police say attempted to run over an officer during a traffic stop has turned himself in.

Lionel S. Gurley, 36, turned himself in to the Fulton Police Department at 4:06 p.m. Saturday.

He was placed under arrest for second-degree assault, resisting arrest by fleeing and driving while revoked. Gurley was transported to the Callaway County jail and released into their custody with a $100 bond.

Gurley was wanted after he was pulled over at Seventh and Nichols streets at about 10:50 p.m. Jan. 9. Police attempted to arrest Gurley at that time, at which point he allegedly fled in a vehicle and attempted to hit a police officer. The officer fired several rounds at Gurley's vehicle while retreating.

A release from the police department states an investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
