Brandon L. Campbell

A Belle man escaped his captors Friday while being booked into the Maries County Jail, but he was quickly recaptured.

Brandon L. Campbell, 38, was initially arrested on accusations that he violated conditions of his bond on a second-degree sodomy charge, according to the Maries County Sheriff's Department.

During the booking process at the jail, Campbell escaped from the facility and fled on foot. A jailer chased him for two blocks, then used a Taser to subdue and apprehend Campbell.

Sheriff Chris Heitman says Campbell is now facing additional charges of escape from a county jail and resisting arrest. Campbell reportedly suffered only minor injuries.
