Rezoning approved on Southwest Boulevard

Major Interiors to move from Heisinger Road location

A rezoning request for two buildings on Southwest Boulevard was approved Thursday to allow a home furnishings store to move to a new location.

At the Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Thursday, commission members approved a request to rezone 1407 Southwest Blvd. and 1411 Southwest Blvd. from C-O office commercial to C-1 neighborhood commercial to allow retail sales within the lots.

Chris Gates, with Kolb Properties, who spoke on behalf of the property owner Jason Lale, said the request was filed to allow Lale to move his business, Major Interiors, from its Heisinger Road location to 1407 Southwest Blvd., which is currently vacant. Gates said Lale would move his business to the second floor of the building and lease the bottom floor for office space.

Gates said Lale plans to make improvements to both buildings, as well as facade improvements.

The request was approved unanimously.

Also approved Thursday were two requests from F&F Development - one to replat a lot of Stoneridge Village, where Dick's Sporting Goods and Petsmart are located, into three separate lots; and another to allow a variance to allow one of the newly platted lots to have no street frontage.

Both requests were approved unanimously.
