Two found dead in Eldon home after fire Sunday night

Eldon firefighters discovered two bodies in an Eldon home that caught fire late Sunday evening.

According to Eldon Police Chief Rodney Fair, an Eldon officer on patrol noticed smoke coming from the area of Railroad Pond Road in Eldon at 11:16 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9. As officers approached the area, they discovered a house at 902 Railroad Pond Rd. was on fire. Officers then called the Eldon Fire Department for assistance.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found two bodies in the residence; both were deceased. Fair said at this time the cause of the fire is undetermined, however, no foul play is expected. The names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, Fair said.

The Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office, Moreau Fire Protection District, Tuscumbia Fire Department, Lake Ozark Fire Protection District and Rocky Mount Fire Protection District all assisted the Eldon Fire Department with this incident.
