In celebration of its new home, The Art Bazaar and Village Art Studio will be hosting grand opening events Friday.
The Valentine's Day events will take place throughout the day in the historic Warwick Village Square. The Art Bazaar, 1502 E. High St., moved from its downtown Jefferson City location at the beginning of January. Mary Ann Hall and other members of the art co-op have been working to get the shop ready for business. The store officially opened Feb. 1.
The new building has been arranged to meet the needs of the art vendors, featuring custom shelving and lots of light. The store re-purposed old fixtures, tables and even a counter-top to make the space all its own. The new store features the same artists as it has previously, but the items are showcased in a more cohesive manner.
A door in the Bazaar leads directly to its new neighbor, The Village Art Studio. The studio is a new business, offering classes in canvas painting, mosaics, pastels, oil and acrylics, weaving, papermaking, clay and more. Ann DeRosier, Charlotte Middleton and Cindy Schnieders are heading up the studio, which has already begun offering adult and children's classes.
Friday's grand opening events will include sweet treats, discounts, door prizes and even a few surprises. An open house will be held from 1-4 p.m. The Art Studio will also host date night "Twosome" art classes with two sessions, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., and the choice of three art pieces. To welcome their new neighbors, other members of The Village Square will be having their own events Friday. Brew House Coffee & Bistro will host wine tasting and appetizers, prizes and discounts, as well as Valentine portraits in the Lodge. De Nouveau Salon will have door prizes, and holistic hands five-minute chair massages. Finishing Touches, Fabulous Finds will offer door prizes and a special 14 percent discount. Finishing Touches will also have extended hours for the event, open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
