Weather alters sports schedules at Lincoln

The recent winter storm has continued to wreak havoc on Lincoln University's sports schedules.

The Lincoln basketball doubleheader against Lindenwood, originally scheduled for Wednesday, will now take place tonight at Jason Gym.

The Blue Tigers women will get things started with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against the Lions, while the men's game will follow at 7:30 p.m.

The weather is affecting other programs, too.

Instead of opening its season at the Aggie Round Robin Tournament in Goodwell, Okla., this weekend, the Lincoln softball team will play a combined four games Saturday and Sunday in Arkadelphia, Ark..

Last week, uncertain weather conditions forced the Blue Tigers to pull out of a tournament scheduled to be played in Arkadelphia. Now, the winter storm that has ranged across the Midwest is forcing Lincoln to change its travel plans again.

The Blue Tigers will officially open their 2014 campaign at 9 a.m. Saturday against Henderson State before taking on Arkansas-Monticello at 11 a.m. Lincoln will wrap up its road trip with games Sunday afternoon against Cameron and Arkansas Tech.

The Lincoln baseball team will have to wait a little longer for their season to start as inclement weather forced the Blue Tigers to cancel their season-opening series Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma Panhandle State.

The program is now scheduled to open up the 2014 season at home Feb. 14 in a four-game series against Nebraska-Kearney.
