Helias takes second at Bolivar tourney

BOLIVAR, Mo. - Helias came up a little short.

Bolivar used a strong third quarter to take the lead and the Liberators went on to claim a 58-46 against the Crusaders in the championship game of the Bolivar Tournament on Saturday night.

Helias trailed 16-13 after the first quarter, but tied the game at 27 going into halftime. Bolivar outscored the Crusaders 14-7 in the third to take a 41-34 lead into the final period, where the Liberators outscored Helias 17-12.

Hale Hentges scored 16 points while Isiah Sykes added 11 to lead the Crusaders (14-4).

Helias will host Soldan at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The Crusaders' JV team posted a 44-37 win against Carthage in the third-place of the Bolivar Tournament on Saturday.

Kale Gerstner and Brad Kemna both scored 10 points to lead Helias (8-4).
