Jefferson City man dies in icy crash

A Jefferson City man died after he lost control of his vehicle on an ice-covered highway in southern Cole County on Saturday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Billy D. Robinett, 58, was traveling east on U.S. 54, not far from Hammann Road, when his vehicle - a 2002 Ford F-150 - left the right side of the roadway, slipped down a steep embankment and overturned. Robinett was wearing a seat belt.

He was transported via ambulance to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, but was unable to be revived.

The crash happened at 6:29 a.m.

In an unrelated wreck, a Jefferson City woman suffered moderate injuries in an ice-related accident early on Saturday.

The highway patrol reports Jessica Wadley, 22, was headed east on U.S. 54 in Callaway County when she lost control of her 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, traveled off the left side of the ice-covered road and struck a guard rail.

She was transported via ambulance to Capital Region Medical Center where she was treated and released. She was wearing a seat belt. The accident happened at 1 a.m. Saturday.
