Autopsy: Moniteau County body was male

Authorities still are not releasing much information in a Central Missouri death investigation.

A body found Saturday in Moniteau County, near Russellville, was a male about 30, the Missouri Highway Patrol said Tuesday afternoon after an autopsy was done Tuesday morning.

For the first time since their investigation began, they said that a hunter scouting for deer found the man's decomposed body in southeastern Moniteau County, southwest of Russellville.

The Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control, and the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office, are continuing their investigation.

Patrol Spokesman Sgt. Kevin Hunter said he wasn't sure how soon they would be able to find out the man's identity.

Officials didn't say if the Tuesday morning autopsy revealed a cause of death.

But Hunter said foul play cannot be ruled out as a cause of death, even though initial indications have not shown the man died from a shooting or stabbing.
