JC man taken into custody for weapons offense

A 25-year-old man from Jefferson City was arrested over the weekend for threatening to kill his wife with a gun and pistol-whipping her.

Pharis L. Davis is charged with armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree domestic violence and felony receiving stolen property.

Davis is accused of pointing a handgun at his wife's head, repeatedly threatening to kill her, and then beating her in the head with the gun. He then disabled her cellphone and walked off from their apartment in the 1100 block of Riviera, Sunday at 1:30 a.m. She went to a neighbor for help and the neighbor later called police when Davis displayed a gun from his car trying to order his wife to get in the car with him.

A search of a different neighbor's apartment later produced two guns that Davis hid. The victim identified one of the guns as the one she was beaten and threatened with. The gun was stolen from Popular Bluff.

Davis is jailed on $100,000 bond. He was on probation for domestic violence at the time of this incident.
