NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - A local man is $5,000 richer after a stop for gas in Jefferson City.

According to a Missouri Lottery press release, Don "Billy" Werdehausen bought two $5 "$500 Frenzy" tickets at the Break Time located at 1200 Missouri Blvd., one of which resulted in the $5,000 prize.

In the release, Werdehausen - a regular Scratchers player who said he "sometimes gets feelings" about playing - bought the tickets because the gas station clerk told him it was a new game.

"It's a strong feeling for me," Werdehausen said in the press release. "If I look in there, and I'm looking around the tickets and just one of them happens to jump out at me. The lady behind the counter told me, "We've got a new game out.' And I told her, "Well, I'll try one.'"

Werdehausen said he will probably use his winnings to help pay for his daughter's upcoming wedding.

The winner also had some advice for other lottery hopefuls.

"Keep playing. It will happen," Werdehausen said.
