Marshall tops Helias in tennis

The Helias Crusaders dropped an 8-1 decision Wednesday to the Marshall Owls at Washington Park.

Ethan Lesko picked up Helias' victory, winning his No. 1 singles match 10-8.

Other singles results for the Crusaders included: Caleb Seidel (4-10); Kirk Twehous (7-10); Jeremy Wolters (7-10); T.J. Hagenhoff (2-10) and David Huber (4-10).

In doubles, Seidel and Wolters fell 7-10, while Twehous and Lesko lost 2-10 decision. Hagenhoff and Ryan Pollock lost 4-10.

Helias (4-2) will play Friday at the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tournament.

In junior varsity action, Helias won two doubles matches. The teams of Jordan Roling and Mark Lamb, along with Braden Toebben and Jordan Cowell, both won 8-5.
