Jays, Blair Oaks frosh split

WARDSVILLE, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays and Blair Oaks Falcons freshmen earned a split Tuesday afternoon.

Blair Oaks scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim a 8-5 win in Game 1, but Jefferson City answered with a 8-1 win in five innings in the nightcap.

Ryan Paschal allowed four runs (no earned) on five hits, while striking out four and walking two in 52/3 innings for the Falcons in the opener. Jason Rackers picked up the win after throwing the final 11/3 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out two.

Kade Franks had two hits and three RBI, while Cole Sandbothe added two hits and drove in two runs to lead Blair Oaks at the plate. Rackers had two hits and Thomas Verslues tallied an RBI to help pace the Falcons.

Gunner See and Allan Rottgen both had three hits, while Brandon Williams added two hits to lead Jefferson City in the opener.

Williams picked up the win for the Jays in Game 2, allowing four hits and striking out three in five innings.

See, Gavin Strobel and Cole Ahrens all had two hits to lead Jefferson City at the plate in the nightcap.

Rackers received the loss after allowing two runs (no earned) in three innings for Blair Oaks. Ethan Rackers pitched the final two innings, allowing six runs (one earned) while walking two and striking out one.

Clayton Backes and Paschal both had hits to lead the Falcons.

Jefferson City is now 15-1 on the year, while Blair Oaks is now 9-3.
