Experience wins out for Blair Oaks board

Two incumbents and a former board member won election Tuesday for the three seats available on the Blair Oaks School Board.

Matt Fifer and Tim Van Ronzelen won re-election with 646 and 572 votes, respectively.

Peggy Luebbert, who served on the board between 2009-11, won the other seat with 595 votes.

"I appreciate the community's support and that they saw to have me serve another three years," Van Ronzelen said. "I hope we continue to take Blair Oaks down the right path."

Fifer said, "I appreciate the patron's support and will continue to serve the patrons and students, just as I have the last three years."

He believes people looked at his slate's record and decided they liked it.

During his tenure on the board, Fifer noted, the district has improved its academic scores on the MAP assessments. "I feel people are proud of what we've done the last three years and would like to see it continue," he added.

Luebbert said, "I'm glad I won and that Matt and Tim won.

"I want to thank the voters who voted for me and am looking forward to the challenge of working with the rest of the school board."

Bret E. Brooks received 242 votes, Dawn Brooks, 204 votes, and Alicia Luebbering received 218 votes.
