KAISER, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Falcons scored 27 unanswered points in the third quarter to break open a close game and won a slugfest with the School of the Osage Indians by a 61-29 margin Friday night.
Clinging to a 21-16 lead at intermission, the Falcons scored on their second play of the second half when Jordan Hair hit Haydn Lock with a 46-yard scoring strike just 33 seconds into the half.
A short field on their next possession meant the Falcons needed to go just 33 yards, and they did in three plays, with the capper being a 1-yard scoring run by Jordan Hair at the 9:49 mark.
Another scoring run by Hair, this one from 3 yards out at the 5:43 mark, put the Falcons up 41-16.
Hair then hit C.J. Closser with a 3-yard scoring pass with 3:12 left in the frame to put Blair Oaks up 48-16, effectively ending it.
Both teams scored twice in the final quarter - Blair Oaks on a 7-yard pass from Hair to Mikel Drehle and a 1-yard run by Caleb Bischoff, and Osage on a 7-yard pass from Austin Riley to Collin Samuelson and a 48-yard pass from Riley to Jake Ulmer.
The fans should have known they were in for a wild one - and the teams did combine for more than 800 yards of total offense - after the game's first two minutes.
Osage got the ball first and went 72 yards in eight plays, capped off by an 11-yard touchdown run by Seth Crooks.
But the Indians mistakenly kicked the ball to Dominic Jamerson on the ensuing kickoff, and the Blair Oaks speedster went 80 yards to tie the game at 7.
Blair Oaks got the only other score of the opening quarter on an 18-yard pass from Hair to Lock to make it 14-7.
The Indians got to within 14-13 on a 2-yard run by Crooks early in the second quarter that was set up by a blocked punt, but the PAT failed and Blair Oaks held on to a 14-13 lead.
The Falcons added to their lead when Hair hit Corbin Singer with a 20-yard scoring pass five minutes before half, and the Indians got a 22-yard field goal by Ulmer to finish the first-half scoring.
The Falcons (4-1 overall, 3-0 Tri-County Conference) racked up 421 total yards in the win. Hair connected on 23-of-36 passes for 332 yards, as Blair Oaks did most of its damage through the air. The Falcons had just 89 yards rushing on 31 carries.
Osage (2-3, 2-1) ended up with 416 yards of offense. Riley ended up completing 23-of-42 passes for 357 yards. The Indians had just 59 yards rushing on 32 carries.
Blair Oaks returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday when it hosts California for Homecoming.
