Lincoln's Goeke honored

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Lincoln golfer Nick Goeke was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association golfer of the week for his efforts during the Husky Invitational held Sunday and Monday.

Goeke led the Blue Tigers with a sixth-place finish with rounds of 73 and 75. His strong play helped Lincoln finish fifth overall with a 612.

It was the top finish among MIAA schools. Missouri Southern was eighth with a 616 and Missouri Western was 13th with a 640. Bemidji State (Minn.) won the event with a 592.

Other Lincoln finishers were Steven Mallow and Brian Lillevold (19th, 152), former Helias golfer Eric Kosmatka (54th, 160) and Kyle Stone (77th, 168).

The Blue Tigers are off until Oct. 7 when they compete at the Heart of America Invitational in Warrensburg.
