Lady Falcons grab pool softball title

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons pushed across a run in the top of the eighth inning Saturday afternoon and defeated Harrisonville 3-2 to take the Silver Pool title at the University of Central Missouri Tournament.

Blair Oaks led 2-0 going into the bottom of the seventh before Harrisonville tied the game to send it to extra innings.

Jolie Duffner had three hits to lead Blair Oaks, while LeeAnn Polowy and Blake Burks added two hits each. Duffner, Polowy and Ashley Forck all drove in runs.

Peyton Staggs was the winner in relief, working the final 1 2/3 innings. She allowed one run on two hits and a walk. Taylor Gellert pitched the first 6 1/3 innings, allowing a run on six hits and two walks. She struck out four.

Blair Oaks opened play Saturday with a 17-0 victory against Sullivan in three innings.

Sarah Jones, Duffner, Staggs, Burks and Paige Siebeneck all had two hits for the Lady Falcons. Burks and Siebeneck drove in three runs each Staggs and Forck had two RBI.

Staggs was the winning pitcher, allowing one hit and a walk while striking out three.

Blair Oaks (11-3) will play Monday at Hallsville.
